Fungsi
Bentuk ini sering digunakan dalam kalimat type 2 conditional. Bentuk ini menyatakan tindakan atau situasi yang belum selesai atau masih berlanjut, yang merupakan kemungkinan hasil dari suatu kondisi yang tidak nyata.
Contoh
- I would be working in Italy if I spoke Italian. (Tetapi, saya tidak bisa berbicara bahasa Italia, sehingga saya tidak bekerja di Italia.)
- She wouldn't be living with Jack if she lived with her parents. (Tetapi, dia tinggal bersama Jack dan bukan bersama orang tuanya.)
- You wouldn't be smiling if you knew the truth. (Tetapi, Anda tersenyum karena Anda tidak tahu kebenarannya.)
Present continuous conditional tense
Present continuous conditional tense dari kata kerja apa pun terdiri dari tiga unsur:
would + be + present participle
Present participle dibentuk dengan mengambil bentuk dasar dari kata kerja dan menambahkan akhiran -ing.
